Shogai Summer Camp 2023

On Friday 18th - Sunday 20th August 2023 Sensei Craig and Sensei Amy joined old and new friends and fellow karate-ka for the Shogai Summer Camp 2023 hosted by the amazing Simon Bligh Sensei. This camp was 3 days of training, camping, camp fires and fun, where they learned new skills, trained hard, played hard, with a great group of people. Both had an amazing time (it was Sensei Craig’s 3rd time and Sensei Amy’s first time attending the camp) and cannot wait to show the students what they have learned.

Practicing Karate means always learning and White Rose Budo and the instructors love to spend time with other clubs and styles, learning, sharing knowledge and becoming better karate-ka along the way.

A few people have asked why as a Goju Ryu club, attend a summer camp focused on Shotokan. We do it because we can, because we’re invited and because every event we have attended at other clubs in the past have been amazing with so much learning and idea sharing.

Yes, we’re a Gojyu Ryu club and yes at Shogai Dojo they do Shotokan but they are both styles of karate with some many similarities, and you know sometimes it’s good to be out of your comfort zone and to train with people that can help you develop, learn and challenge you to grow.

Both Sensei Craig and Sensei Amy look forward to future opportunities to train with this amazing group of people and other clubs and styles and encourage any club members to do the same if they wish to.
